On Wednesday, September 28th from approximately 9:30 am-12:30 pm, the 1st grade of Bedford Hills Elementary School will attend an outdoor, nature-based field trip to Camp Kum-Ba-Yah. Volunteers will attend monthly walk committee meetings – get updates on current Alzheimer’s Association information, help recruit local company and friends & family teams, and plan for the upcoming walk – each meeting is 1 hour, and volunteers can attend however many meetings they would like – 5 hours (August – December) There will be 8 – 10 tabling events lasting 2 – 4 hours each. Volunteers will table at local events including farmers’ markets and internal kick-offs.
Volunteers will also assist with recruitment events.
Volunteers can stay for the whole time from 6 am-12 pm (6 hours) or choose certain areas to help volunteer ranging from 2-3 hours!

We are looking for volunteers to help set up, beginning around 6-7 am, registration and greeters, handing out waters, assist with the walk route, and break down / clean up from 11 am-12 pm. The event is on October 29th from 8 am-11 am. Although natural ability is an asset, every student’s capabilities in speech communication can be markedly improved through (1) an understanding of the communication process, (2) continued training in communication principles, and (3) practice in interpersonal, intercultural, group and speaker-audience situations.We are looking for day-of-walk volunteers for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Lynchburg. The overall goals of this course are to improve the student’s ability to speak before an audience, to listen to and analyze speeches, to interact more effectively interpersonally with others and to increase awareness of the role of communication in our complex society. It is a performance course that is based on the study of communication theory as applied to a numerous public speaking situations and social interactions.

Throughout the course, we will explore the evolution of digital media technologies as well as their impact on economics, politics, education, communication, and community.
Instead of these new communications technologies rendering radio, newspaper, and television obsolete, instead, they enabled conversion or the merging of previously distinct technologies that can be used with one device - the mobile phone. For example, the introduction of the computer has been an even greater game-changer with the introduction of the Internet, which allowed people and all manner of technology to be connected. Each cultural era is met by technological changes. It will explore what it means to be literate - beyond reading, writing, and math - in the age of new media. An introductory course help you develop the technical skills to survive in our new digital culture.
